GETTING STARTED

How many bundles are needed for my custom unit?


The numbers listed below are only suggestions for a standard unit but they are not required. The total number of bundles needed is ultimately your preference and can vary based on the look you want to achieve. If you are wanting a fuller look, you may want to add an additional 1-2 bundles to the suggested numbers below.

  • (2) Bundles are suggested for lengths 16" or shorter
  • (3) Bundles are suggested for lengths 18"-22"
  • (4) Bundles are suggested for lengths 24" and up




Where can I drop off and pick up my bundles?


The drop off and pick up option is ONLY available to clients in Atlanta. PLEASE be advised that dropping off and picking up is for the convenience of those who do not want to wait on shipping or simply want their order quicker. YOU MUST come to the provided location. We are NOT able to meet you or come to you. Drop off/pickup will always be in south Atlanta (specific address provided after payment). If you are unable to come to south ATL, you may ship your bundles.




I'm afraid of the wiggy look. How can I ensure that my wig will look natural?


If your wig is made correctly, it can look as natural as a sew in. The way you take care of it determines the final look and outcome. If you get your unit sewn, tieing it down properly everynight can help keep it natural and fresh. We highly recommend using a hot comb (if you are experienced) if your hair becomes bumpy or lumpy. The foundation underneath your wig is VERY important. Underneath your wig, you'll want to have your hair styled in small cornrows or braids. If your braids are too big or bulky, you will experience the "wiggy" look. If your hair is very fine, straight or thin, you may be able to style your hair in a very low ponytail (depending on the style of the unit). If you have very short hair (pixie cut), you can comply mold your hair down. For best results, it is always best to get your hair braided in small braids.




How should my hair be styled underneath my wig?


The foundation underneath your wig is VERY important. Underneath your wig, you'll want to have your hair styled in small cornrows or braids. If your braids are too big or bulky, you will experience the "wiggy" look. If your hair is very fine, straight or thin, you may be able to style your hair in a very low ponytail (depending on the style of the unit). If you have very short hair (pixie cut), you can comply mold your hair down. For best results, it is always best to get your hair braided in small braids. Can I provide my own hair for my unit?


Yes, that is the convenience of having a wig made by TheeJMcGheeWigs! We allow you to provide your own hair so that you are able to spend whatever you can afford. This way, you are able to still get a bomb unit made without the obligation of buying more expensive hair.




Can I provide previously worn hair? If so, how can I prepare it for my new unit?


Yes, you can provide hair that was previously worn or used to make another wig as long as it is in decent condition. Hair MUST be washed and conditioned, dried and and free of chemicals. If the hair is full of chemicals, that could prevent it from styling correctly and can possibly lead to burning the hair/lace. If hair is multiple different lengths or cut, please have all matching pieces placed together with a rubber band. We will NOT accept hair where the wefts of the hair is cut excessively.




Why should I invest in a custom unit by TheeJMcGheeWigs?


While sew ins are a great, wigs provide a longer lastings style. Not only do wigs serve as a protective style, they offer more versatility. Think of a sew in as a 2-3 contract, whereas a wig is commitment free. No need to feel guilty when you feel your natural hair needs a break, you can simply take your wig off and put it back as often as you like without having to set a new hair appointment or feel like your money was wasted for taking it out early. Not only that but they last much longer with proper care.




How can I determine if a closure or frontal is best for me?


While both require maintenance, closures typically require less maintenance and are easier to work with. Closures typically come in 4x4 or 5x5 and can be worn glueless on a wig. Depending on the style, most closure wigs can be re-parted or slightly shifted to create a middle part or side part. Some closures can go as big as 6x6 and mimic a frontal more and require a little more work than the smaller ones. Frontals on the other hand, are very high maintenance. They typically come in 13x4 or 13x6 to allow parting anywhere in the front. Although they allow you a great amount of versatility, they require a lot of upkeep for a flawless and lasting look. This also includes weekly-biweekly visits to your stylist.




What should I know about closures and/or frontals?


Closures and frontals both act as protective style (when properly cared for) because it takes the place of your natural hair that you would typically leave out when getting a sew in. This prevents chemical and heat damage to your natural hair. CLOSURES : A closure is a small piece of fabric (lace or silk) with hand tied pieces of hair knotted to the base. They are usually 4x4 in size. Closures cover a small portion of your hair but can be shifted for different parting options. FRONTALS: Frontals cover the entire front perimeter of your hairline, usually 13x4 or 13x6 in size. They can be purchased as lace or silk based. While silk based frontals mimic a natural scalp more accurately, lace is preferred because it lays flatter against the scalp.




How can I ensure a proper fit for my custom unit


Please refer to the measuring chart at the bottom of the "How to Order" tab for instructions on how to determine your head size. Head must be measured while in a flat style to prevent incorrect sizing. The average head size is 22" or a size medium. If you are unsure or unable to get exact measurements, the size medium provides a one size fits most wear.




What comes with my custom unit


The unit is made on a dome cap (based on your size) and the lace provided will be bleached and plucked/tweezed (if applicable). For styling, you can choose from basic barrel curls or straight. It is additional price to straighten curly hair.




How are your units made?


Our units are 100% hand sewn. Machine made units will be available soon.





TURN AROUND TIME & DELIVERY

I would like to drop off and pick up locally in Atlanta. What is the turn around time?


PLEASE be advised that dropping off and picking up is for the convenience of those who do not want their order shipped. YOU MUST come to the provided location. We are NOT able to meet you or come to you. Drop off/pickup will always be in south Atlanta (address provided after payment). If you are unable to come to south ATL, you can ship your bundles.

  • IF you are dropping off your OWN hair and picking up, please allow 2 weeks for the unit to be made. The 2 weeks begins on the day the hair is dropped off, NOT the date of placing your order or date of payment. **TOTAL TIME: 2 WEEKS**
  • IF your are purchasing hair from me and picking up your unit, please allow 2-3 days (from payment) for me to receive the hair via shipment (this could be slightly longer during a sale or holiday seasons) and about 2 weeks for the unit to be made. **TOTAL TIME: ABOUT 2.5 WEEKS**
Please be sure to check out or "Updates" tab for a list of vacation/off days where we will not be working. These days are not included in the total turn around time. NOTE: In some cases, depending on our current order volume, your order may be finished early but to set the proper expectation, please prepare to receive your unit no earlier than the specified turn around time above. Also, please be mindful that we are human and things happen such as personal emergencies, shipping delays, etc. We will always strive to have your order completed by your specified turn around but always plan your order in a timely manner and allow extra time beyond your turn around time in case of emergencies or delays. Also, PLEASE mention if you need your unit by a certain date PRIOR to payment and we will let you know if your order can be accommodated or not. Rush order is available for those that need their units in a week or less for an additional fee.




I would like my unit shipped. What is the turn around time?


​​​​​​PLEASE be mindful of the total turn around time prior to placing an order.

  • IF you are shipping your own hair to me and getting it shipped back to you, please allow 2 weeks (from the day hair is received) for the unit to be made, PLUS 2-3 shipping days to receive your unit back. This includes time for the hair to get to me and time to get it shipped back to you. ** TOTAL TIME: 3 WEEKS**
  • IF your are purchasing hair from me and getting your unit shipped back, please allow 2-3 days (from payment) for me to receive the hair via shipment. This could be slightly longer during a sale or holiday seasons. After hair is received, please allow 2 weeks for the unit to be made. Please add an additional 2-3 shipping days to receive the unit after it has been shipped. ** TOTAL TIME: ABOUT 3 WEEKS**

I need my unit before the specified turn around time. Can I get it made quicker?


Yes, you have an option to pay a skip fee. You can have your unit completed in a week for an additional $25. You can also have your unit completed in 2-3 days for an additional $50. RUSH ORDER SERVICE IS BASED ON AVAILABILITY.




What are my shipping options? How much and how long?


2-3 business day shipping: $10 Overnight shipping: $25-35 (price may vary based on shipping location). All shipping is handled by USPS (United States Postal Service). If you prefer to have your package shipped by UPS or Fedex, please inquire before payment. This is available for an additional fee. Once order is shipped, TheeJMcGheeWigs is not responsible for any delays, lost or stolen packages. Your USPS package is insured up to $50. If you would like to insure it for the total cost of the unit, please mention before payment.

What is the return or exchange policy?


Due to the nature of the customized product, ALL SALES ARE FINAL and no changes or refunds will be granted after your order has begun.




There is a problem with my unit after I received it, what can be done to fix it?


If you notice any issues with your unit, it MUST be returned within 2 weeks or receiving to be fixed. This ensures that the problem can be corrected as soon as possible and is not elongonated or antoher problem is created. We will NOT correct any issues beyond 2 weeks as this can give additional time for other problems to occur.




Are there any additional disclosures that I should be aware of?


  • ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
  • Prices and terms are subject to change at anytime without notice.
  • Please be mindful that all hair works differently and your unit will only last as long as the hair provided. To ensure a flawless and long lasting unit, please provide or purchase quality hair. TheeJMcGheeWigs is not responsible for any client provided hair that tangles, sheds, mattes or does not comply with customizing before, during or after unit construction. If hair provided does not meet the above qualifications, we reserve the right to not contruct the unit and send hair back at the client's expense.





AFTERCARE

How long will my unit last and how can I ensure best results (aftercare).


Please keep in mind that closures and frontals are made on lace, so the more you brush, comb and style the hair, the quicker it will lose longevity. With proper maintenance and quality hair, your unit can last up to year or longer. Interchanging between multiple wigs will give longer results. If your unit is not sewn down, remove it nightly and refrain from allowing others to wear your unit or try it on as this can cause stretching. If hair is not purchased from me, please consult with the original seller on best practices to properly care for the hair.




Do I have to get my unit professionaly installed?


CLOSURE UNITS: Professional installation is not required but if you are new to closures or wigs, it is suggested for a flawless look. However, we have many first time closure/wig customers who get adjusted just fine without the help of a professional stylist. The great thing about closure units are they can be put on and taken off as often as you'd like. This saves time from going to a stylist and allows you to frequently change your hairstyle. FRONTAL UNITS: Professional installation is highly recommended and likely required for first time frontal wearers. Glue is also recommended for a flawless and versatile look. If installed correctly, the glue will not affect the natural hairline or hair.

How much is the cost to have a unit made?


Closure Unit: $105 Frontal Unit: $125 Hair is not included in the above price. This price is only to have the unit made. You have the option to provide your own hair or purchase hair from us for an additional price. Unit comes with bleach knots and plucked hairline (if applicable). *Prices are subject to change




How much is shipping?

How much does it cost to add combs and/or an elastic band?


Elastic Band: +$10 Combs: +$5/per comb Elastic Bands and combs are NOT required for closure units. The unit will be glueless with out without combs or a band but can be added if you prefer addtional security. An elastic band and combs are recommended for frontal units for a more secure fit, however, this does not make the unit glueless but will give the unit a better fit.




How much does it cost to have my hair colored?


Color prices vary and is also based on availability. Please inquire about color for an exact price. Please have prepared a picture of the color you are looking to achieve. We do not color previously colored hair nor do we color wigs that were previously constructed by someone else for liability purposes.




What are your hair prices?

Are there any additional fees associated with my order?


IF you are purchasing hair from me, your invoice will have "sales tax" added. The 8.9% sales tax is the percentage charged by the city of Atlanta towards the purchase of a product. Each order has a 3.2% processing fee. The processing fee allows TheeJMcGheeWigs to provide their clients with an easy and secure payment system for their protection. If you are dropping off your hair, you CAN pay with cash at the time of drop off (please have exact cash). We no longer offer payments via CashApp for security purposes.
